How to deal with bad breath

Floss & brush:

Our mouth contains millions of bacteria, but regardless of this there are few methods you can use to beat the bad breath. Brushing and flossing is one of them. Bad breath is caused by the germs and they exactly eat what you eat so cleaning your mouth is the most important thing after eating. You can use a good mouth wash; it’s a temporary solution to fight the mouth odor though.  The best you can do is to brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day. This will ensure that food is not trapped between your teeth. If food particles are left in longer then bad breath is on the cards.

Clean your tongue:

Rough areas of your tongue can be a home for potentially bad smelling bacteria. Clean your tongue with your toothbrush whenever you brush your teeth or get a tongue cleaner that can effectively scrub your tongue.

Stop relying on mints:

Mints work for your breath as good as body sprays work for your body. Mint won’t fight the bacteria causing the bad mouth odor but if the mint contains sugar then it’ll work as buffet for the bacteria inside your mouth.

Stay Hydrated:

In case you feel your mouth is unusually getting dry and you can feel the unpleasant whiff of your own breath, start taking a lot of water. Water produces saliva and saliva works as anti-bacterial agent.

Analyze your food:

If you’re one of those millions of people who have bad breath then you can inspect your food. There are kinds of food or add-ons that give you mouth odor. Analyze your breath whenever you eat things like onions, meat or garlic etc., it’ll help you identify the culprit.

Wash your mouth:

This is the world’s easiest tip! Rinse your mouth with water after eating. Swish some water around, it will remove the remaining particles of food from your mouth and will prevent bad breath setting in.

When to see a dentist?

If you still feel bad breath even after changing the oral hygiene practice then see your dentist!
