How to Fight Sensitive Teeth this Winter

Winter is the season for teeth sensitivity and teeth aches. Fighting with the freezing cold temperature is difficult for you and so is for your teeth. We consume a lot of hot stuff such as hot cocoa drinks and it results in tooth sensitivity that can be a real pain and problem in winters. However, there are several ways to make your teeth strong enough to get through the winter season.

Say No to Over Brushing
One of the basic things is the way you brush your teeth. Brush but don’t over brush! Over brushing can harm tooth enamel that’s there to protect the surface of your teeth. When you over brush, you get closer to other worse teeth issues. This is the simplest thing that you can do to avoid teeth sensitivity.

Use Desensitizing Toothpaste
The easiest thing you can do is to switch from your normal toothpaste to a toothpaste that is designed specially for sensitive teeth. Ask your dentist to suggest a desensitizing toothpaste, it will help minimizing your tooth aches and decrease the sensitivity.

Go for Fluoride Treatment
Set an appointment with your dentist and ask for fluoride treatment. This treatment strengthens your tooth enamel and protects the nerves inside your teeth.

Reduce Acid and Sugar from Diet
Cut on food and drinks that have acid and sugar in them. Your eating and drinking habits affect the health of your teeth. Avoiding items like soda, yogurt, wine will benefit your teeth. One more thing which we suggest to our patients is not to brush their teeth right after consuming something acidic, acid softens the tooth enamel. Always use a straw to avoid contact of these liquids with your teeth.

Good oral health contributes a lot towards a healthy living than simply giving you a more sparkling smile. Follow the few steps mentioned above on daily basis and enjoy a pain-free winters.
