Regular Cleanings & Dental Check-Ups

Our team of professionals is committed to your overall health

And each dental visit is a chance to screen your head and neck for early signs of disease. A comprehensive dental exam is critical to your ongoing oral health, similar to how you visit your family doctor for a yearly physical exam. A dental check-up often includes two parts: the cleaning with a hygienist, and a check-up performed by the dentist.

Our routine check-ups are designed to prevent dental issues from developing in the future. First, the hygienist will ask the patient about any existing dental problems and inform the patient whether they are due for x-rays. Symptoms of dental problems include pain, redness, swelling, bleeding, and sensitivity to hot or cold. Make sure to inform your hygienist of any problem areas prior to the start of your cleaning. Upon completion of your dental cleaning, the hygienist will call the dentist for a comprehensive recall check up.

The dentist uses intraoral imagesx-rays,

And palpation to identify problems in the earliest stages before they become painful and infected. Such problems may include tooth decay (cavities), joint pain in the jaw, early oral cancer, or gum disease. Regular dental appointments are especially important for children between the ages of 6-12 so the dentist can monitor the eruption of adult teeth and prepare for treatment based on the growth patterns of the jaw bones.
